Course Outline

This is an interactive course involving informal presentations, discussion and hands on cadaveric dissection workshops, based in a small group environment. Anatomy and instrument teaching, plus surgical demonstration of standard and alternative exposures of the hip will be covered.

The course will include presentations & cadaver sessions. The maximum ratio for cadaveric workshops will be 4:1.

This course is accredited by the AOA for 8 CPD points.

Assumed Knowledge

Basic fracture management techniques and principles including:

i. IM Nail

ii. Plating

iii. Soft tissue management

iv. Hip and pelvis anatomy and standard approaches

v. General knowledge of proximal femoral fixation options

Course Pre-requisites

i. Attendees should have passed OPBS

ii. Course is designed for Pre-Set, Set 1-2 and priority registration will be given to these applicants.

iii. Preference will be given to those applicants who have already attended the OTC Lower Limb Dissection Course.
